As part of their global expansion, PFL has launched 'PFL Africa,' which will now join 'PFL Europe' and 'PFL MENA' as the company's regional leagues and tournaments.

Circle back to May 2023, the MMA world was shaken up when former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Francis Ngannou signed on with PFL, which not only was as an in-cage competitor, but also for equity in the company as well as a leadership role within PFL.
Ngannou commented on the launch of PFL Africa, as well as his involvement as the league's new chairman:
“I am excited and honored to serve as Chairman of PFL Africa, a league that will shape the very foundation of African MMA. As we have seen, there is a great wealth of talent in Africa just waiting to be given a global stage. I am so very proud to give back to my homeland and to provide great content to a region with such a passionate and diverse fanbase."
Despite signing on with the company 14 months ago, Ngannou has yet to compete inside of a PFL cage, but has competed twice in boxing, both in a competitive but losing effort to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
