Report: Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov Passes Away, Was 57 Years Old

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, father of UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, has passed away at the age of 57.

RT first reported the news, stating that Nurmagomedov passed away due to complications from the coronavirus. Nurmagomedov had been battling the effects of the virus for many months now, having been hospitalized since April. Nurmagomedov first went to the hospital due to suffering from a heart attack, but he was diagnosed with the coronavirus a short time later.

Nurmagomedov was transported to a special hospital in Moscow to treat the virus and its effects, but those efforts didn’t work out in the end.

Khabib is scheduled to defend his title against UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje this September at UFC 253, but that bouts status could be up in the air at the moment due to Abdulmanap’s passing. Abdulmanap has been Khabib’s coach for all of his professional MMA career and was dubbed by many as the “Father Of Dagestan MMA.”

There has been no comment from the Nurmagomedov Family as of this writing.
