Report: Angela Magana Out Of Coma

Former UFC fighter Angela Magana fell into a coma this past Tuesday after undergoing emergency back surgery due to suffering an injury while training for an upcoming Combate Americas card.

It would appear that the fighter’s condition has improved for the better, as her coach in Gabriel Lamastus texted the following to MMA Junkie.

“Angela is responding to the treatment and is waking up!!!,” Lamastus said. “We are over joyed (sic). She has been in and out of it.”

The fighter was expected to fight Kyra Batara later this month at Combate Americas 35: Reinas," but that bout is obviously off the table now due to Magana’s medical issues.

Lamastus stated in another text message to MMA Junkie that the fighter’s condition actually started to improve early this morning.

“This started happening this morning.” Lamastus said.

Magana is also reportedly able to talk as well, but no further updates have been provided by the fighter or her team at this time. Magana is still being treated at the University Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which is also where the back surgery was done.

There is also no word at this time as to whether or not a still recovering Magana will compete again.
