Report: Ashlee Evans-Smith Facing Bec Rawlings At UFC 223

A women’s flyweight division has been added to this April’s UFC 223 card according to Newsday as Ashlee Evans-Smith could be in action against Bec Rawlings.

Evans-Smith (5-3-0) is making her UFC Women’s Flyweight Division debut in this bout, having previously competed as a bantamweight in the UFC. Evans-Smith does enter the bout on a two fight losing streak and she hasn’t earned a victory in well over a year. Evans-Smith also won five of nine fights as an amateur MMA competitor, which includes a win over UFC veteran Jessamyn Duke.

Rawlings (7-7-0) enters the fight on a three bout losing streak and she hasn’t earned a victory in almost two years time. Rawlings had previously competed as a strawweight in the UFC, earning a record of 2-3-0 during her time in that division. Rawlings also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20, losing in the opening round of the reality show to Tecia Torres.

UFC 223 takes place on Saturday, April 7 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
