A heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira as Chase Sherman faces Ike Villanueva.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Sherman (13-6-0) is starting his second run with the UFC after going 2-5-0 during that first stint with the promotion. Sherman has gone undefeated in between UFC runs, picking up wins over the duo of Frank Tate and Jeremy May. Sherman is going to be competing for the first time in over a year, as his last fight took place in February of 2019.
Villanueva (16-9-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and the fighter is the current Fury FC Light Heavyweight Champion. Villanueva comes into the contest riding a four fight winning streak and he hasn’t been defeated in over two years. Villanueva has picked up sixteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and thirteen of them came by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira takes place on Wednesday, May 13 from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida with Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
