Bellator women’s featherweight champion Cris Cybrog’s first title defense will happen later this year against Arlene Blencowe.
Amy Kaplan of FanSided first reported the news.
Cyborg (22-2-0-1NC) is making the first defense of her championship, as she defeated Julia Budd at Bellator 238 to win the gold. Cyborg is also a former UFC women’s featherweight champion, defeating Holly Holm at UFC 219 to claim that title. Cyborg has competed 25 times as a professional MMA fighter and just four of those bouts went the distance.
Blencowe (13-7-0) enters the contest riding a three fight winning streak, picking up wins over Amanda Bell, Amber Leibrock and Leslie Smith. Blencowe has previously challenged for the Bellator women’s featherweight title, losing to then champion Julia Budd at Bellator 189. Blencowe has suffered seven losses as a professional MMA fighter, but she hasn’t been defeated by way of KO/TKO.
There is no date yet for the Cyborg vs. Blencowe title fight, but it will reportedly happen before the end of 2020.
