A heavyweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 231 according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN as Jake Hager is in action against Anthony Garrett.
Hager (2-0-0) has spent his entire professional MMA career competing in Bellator MMA, defeating the duo of JW Kiser and TJ Jones. Hager has plenty of amateur wrestling experience as well, earning NCAA Division I All American status at the University Of Oklahoma. Hager has also been a successful professional wrestler, competing in the WWE and Lucha Underground among other promotions.
Garrett (3-1-0) is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Garrett has competed a total of four times as a professional MMA fighter and none of those bouts went past the opening round. Garrett and Hager do share a common opponent, as they have both fought the aforementioned Kiser, but Garrett fought him as an amateur fighter.
Bellator 231 takes place on Friday, October 25 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Frank Mir and Roy Nelson headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
