A bantamweight division attraction may be on its way to next years UFC 221 card as Jose Quinonez could take on Teruto Ishihara.
Farah Hannoun first reported the bout.
Quinonez (6-2-0) enters the fight on the strength of a three bout winning streak, last defeating Diego Rivas at UFC Fight Night Mexico City. Quinoez made it to the finals of the UFC Ultimate Fighter Latin America 1, losing to Alejandro Perez in those finals. Quinonez has seen three of his four bouts in the UFC go the distance and the fighter has a record of 2-1-0 in those fights.
Ishihara (10-4-2) has won just one of his last three under the UFC banner, with that win coming over Rolando Dy at UFC Fight Night Japan. Ishihara has seen his last four fights go the distance and it has been over a year since the competitor earned a finish. Ishihara made it to the finals of Road To UFC: Japan, but he fought Mizuto Hirota to a draw in that last bout for the reality show.
UFC 221 takes place on Saturday, February 10 from the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia with Robert Whittaker and Luke Rockhold headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
