A women’s lightweight division fight has been added to the upcoming PFL 6 card according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN as Kayla Harrison faces Jozette Cotton.
Harrison (1-0-0) made her professional MMA debut earlier this year at PFL 2, defeating Bellator MMA veteran Brittney Elkin by first round submission. Harrison has no amateur MMA experience to speak of, so her pro MMA debut served as the first MMA fight overall for Harrison. Harrison is a two time Olympic gold medalist in judo, winning those gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 summer games.
Cotton (8-1-0) is going to be making her PFL debut in this fight and does so on the strength of a two bout winning streak. Cotton competed once under the Bellator MMA banner, having defeated Holly Lawson by unanimous decision at Bellator 129. Cotton is also the current Dynasty Combat Sports Women’s Lightweight Champion, defeating Sarah Patterson to win the gold in September of 2017.
PFL 6 takes place on Thursday, August 16 from the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the NBC Sports Network.
