A welterweight division attraction will headline the yet to be announced UFC card on December 19 as #3 Leon Edwards faces Khamzat Chimaev.
Dana White first confirmed the bout on The Jim Rome Show.
Edwards (18-3-0) is competing for the first time in over a year, as his last bout happened at UFC Fight Night San Antonio in July of 2019. Edwards enters the contest on the strength of an eight fight winning streak and he hasn’t been defeated in almost five years. Edwards has competed 21 times as a professional MMA fighter and only 11 of those bouts went the distance.
Chimaev (9-0-0) is going to be headlining his first UFC card, despite being with the promotion for just over three months. Chimaev has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and none of those bouts went the distance. Chimaev will compete for the fourth time in the UFC, which would make the UFC tied with Brave CF for the promotion where Chimaev has fought the most at.
White would also confirm the bout during the UFC 254 post-fight press conference.
