Magomed Mustafaev needed a new foe for UFC Fight Island 6 after the withdrawal of Renato Moicano and now he has one as Mateusz Gamrot has accepted the short notice opportunity.
MMA Junkie first reported the news.
Mustafaev (14-3-0) has won just one of his last three in the UFC, with that lone win coming over Rafael Fiziev at UFC Fight Night St. Petersburg. Mustafaev hasn’t earned a victory in well over a year, as UFC Fight Night St. Petersburg took place in April of 2019. Mustafaev has competed 17 times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those bouts went the distance.
Gamrot (17-0-1) is making his UFC debut in this bout and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted over eight years. Gamrot is the current KSW MMA lightweight champion, defeating Grzegorz Szulakowski to win the gold at KSW 42. Gamrot has competed 18 times as a professional MMA fighter and just eight of those bouts went the distance.
UFC Fight Island 6 is set for Saturday, October 17 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
