Report: Nohelin Hernandez Steps In At UFC 239

Marlon Vera was in need of a new opponent at UFC 239 after the withdrawal of Sean O’Malley and now he has one according to MMA Fusion as Nohelin Hernandez has accepted the short notice opportunity.

Vera (13-5-1) enters the contest while in the midst of a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Wuliji Buren, Guido Cannetti and Frankie Saenz. Vera has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of those defeats came by way of decision. Vera has won just one of two bouts on UFC pay-per-view cards, winning at UFC 227 and suffering a defeat at UFC 180.

Hernandez (9-2-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Hernandez has competed eleven times as a professional MMA fighter and seven of those bouts went the distance. Hernandez competed once under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating Josh San Diego by unanimous decision at Bellator 199.

UFC 239 takes place on Saturday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
