A bantamweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo according to Raphael Marinho of Combate as Renan Barao faces Andre Ewell.
Barao (34-6-0-1NC) has won just one of his last five under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Phillipe Nover at UFC Fight Night 95. Barao hasn’t picked up a victory in almost two years, with that win over Nover taking place in September of 2016. Barao is a former UFC Bantamweight Champion, defeating Urijah Faber to win the gold at UFC 149 in July of 2012.
Ewell (13-4-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Ewell is the current CES MMA Bantamweight Champion, defeating Dinis Paiva to win the gold at CES MMA 50. Ewell has suffered a total of four losses as a professional MMA fighter, with two coming by way of submission and the other two coming by decision.
UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
