Report: Ryan Spann Replaces Mark Godbeer At UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo

Mark Godbeer has suffered an injury and has been pulled from UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo according to Combate, replacing him against Luis Henrique is going to be Ryan Spann.

Henrique (10-4-0-1NC) is also going to be making his light heavyweight division debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a two fight losing streak. Henrique has won just two of five in the UFC thus far, with his victories coming over Dmitry Smoliakov and Christian Colombo. Henrique has seen just one of his five bouts in the UFC go the distance and that came against Arjan Singh Bhullar at UFC 215.

Spann (14-5-0) is making his UFC debut in this encounter and the fighter does so on the strength of a four bout winning streak. Spann competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 10, defeating Emiliano Sordi by first round submission. Spann has suffered a total of five defeats as a professional MMA fighter, with four of those losses coming to UFC/Bellator MMA veterans.

UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo 2018 takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Jimi Manuwa and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
