Steven Peterson has been pulled from UFC Fight Night Norfolk for undisclosed reasons, replacing him against Aalon Cruz is Spike Carlyle.
MMA Junkie first reported the news and the bouts placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Cruz (8-2-0) is making his UFC debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Cruz also competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 6, defeating Steven Nguyen by third round knockout. Cruz has picked up eight victories as a professional MMA fighter and half of them came by way of decision.
Carlyle (8-1-0) is also making his UFC debut in this bout and also does so while riding a four fight winning streak. Carlyle has suffered just a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Serob Minasyan at CFX 12 in April of 2018. Carlyle has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went the distance.
UFC Fight Night Norfolk takes place on Saturday, February 29 from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia with Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
