Report: Thales Leites Faces Hector Lombard At UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo

A middleweight division encounter is in the works for UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo according to Combate as Thales Leites faces Hector Lombard.

Leites (27-9-0) has won just one of his last four under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Sam Alvey at UFC Fight Night 108. Leites is currently in his second run with the UFC, holding an overall record of 12-8-0 in the promotion. Leites has previously challenged for the UFC Middleweight Title, losing to then champion Anderson Silva by unanimous decision at UFC 97.

Lombard (34-9-1-2NC) enters the contest on the strength of a five fight winning streak and the fighter hasn’t picked up a victory in over four years. Lombard is also a former Bellator MMA Middleweight Champion, defeating Jared Hess to win the gold at Bellator 12. Lombard has suffered a total of nine defeats as a professional MMA fighter, but the former champion has yet to lose by way of submission.

UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
