Report: Thiago Alves Faces Laureano Staropoli At UFC 237

A welterweight division attraction has been added to UFC 237 according to MMA Fighting as Thiago Alves is going to be in the Octagon against Laureano Staropoli.

Alves (23-13-0) has won just two of his last six under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over the duo of Max Griffin and Patrick Cote. Alves has previously challenged for the UFC Welterweight Title, losing to then champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 100. Alves has seen his last two fights go the distance and it has been over a year since one of the fighter’s bouts ended via a form of finish.

Staropoli (8-1-0) is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Hector Aldana by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night Buenos Aires. Staropoli has suffered just a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came against Alejandro Ezequiel Coslovsky at Punishers MMA 4. Staropoli has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of his bouts went to the judges scorecards.
