The UFC will hold four events in a two week spanĀ at Fight Island this July, with those events being UFC 251, UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige, UFC Fight Night Figueiredo vs. Benavidez and UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till.
Coronavirus testing has been done by the promotion in the lead up to all their events that have been held since the pandemic began.
However, a report from MMA Fighting is showing a big change in how the testing is going to be done for everybody heading to Fight Island. Usually, everybody who has competed on UFC cards pre-Fight Island were tested when they arrived at the fighter hotel before the event. This new policy will see everybody involved with the four Fight Island cards tested before they even depart for Fight Island.
That means that all fighters, cornermen, UFC staff and other event personnel will get tested for the coronavirus before they even step foot on the plane taking them to Fight Island.
Thus far, only three UFC fighters have tested positive for the coronavirus, with those being Ronaldo Souza, Lyman Good and Billy Quarantillo.
