Umar Nurmagomedov was scheduled to make his UFC debut this Saturday Night against Sergei Morozov at UFC 254, but that won’t be happening anymore because Nurmagomedov has been hospitalized.
TASS first reported the news, while Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is also competing at UFC 254, revealed that Umar was pulled from the card due to a staph infection:
MMA Junkie provided the following translation of what Nurmagomedov wrote on Instagram:
“The last few days, Umar has been in a hotel with a high fever, which was caused by a staphylococcal infection. But despite this, he and our entire team were determined that he would perform on October 24th. This morning, before our flight to Abu Dhabi, he got worse and was hospitalized in Dubai. Get well brother, so it was meant to be.”
There is no word yet as to whether or not Morozov will still compete at UFC 254, as the promotion has about five days to find him a new opponent.
