Jon Jones Wins, Does Donald Trump Dance At UFC 309, Stipe Miocic Retires | Fight Video Highlights & Results

Jon Jones continued his dominant MMA run at UFC 309.

Virtually unbeaten in his MMA career that is actively winding down, the UFC Heavyweight Champion Jones successfully defended against a Stipe Miocic that realistically already saw his career wind down.
Miocic's first fight in nearly four years, the UFC broadcast tried to convince its audience that was actually a good thing. It wasn't.

Jones easily controlled the first round with a trip takedown and filthy elbows. He pointed his way through round two, and finished Miocic with a spinning back kick in round 3. That called for the end of Stipe Miocic, and got Jones the win. Afterwards, he turned towards President-elect Donald Trump and did the "Trump dance."

Jon Jones stated after the fight that he wasn't retiring and would negotiate with the UFC for his next fight. The two primary options being current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and former middleweight champ Alex Pereira, or interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall. Jones spent the week avoiding questions about Aspinall, and alienating reporters who associate with Aspinall.

After the bout, Miocic announced his retirement at 42-years old. He'd not competed in over three years, and not won in over four, but prior to that was the most decorated UFC Heavyweight Champion of all-time. Miocic holds the UFC record for consecutive heavyweight title defenses, overall heavyweight title defenses, and overall heavyweight title fight wins. His resume includes wins over Daniel Cormier, Francis Ngannou, Junior dos Santos, Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum, Andrei Arlovski and Phil De Fries, the latter of which has defended the KSW Title 11 times in a row. Miocic retires with a 20-5 pro record.

Elsewhere on the show, future UFC Hall of Famers squared off as Charles Oliveira took home a unanimous decision victory over Michael Chandler in a fun and not remotely competitive bout. After the fight, Chandler called out Conor McGregor "if he could get his house in order."

UFC 309 took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 9. In addition to Donald Trump, Elon Musk and other figures, WWE's Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were at the show. UFC and WWE have the same parent company, TKO.
