Play-by-Play

(#4) Calvin Kattar vs. (#7) Josh Emmett

Round One - Emmett trips Kattar to the fence but Kattar bounces off the cage and lands a 1-2. Kattar peppers the jab and lands a low kick then another 1-2 and another kick to Emmett’s lead leg. Emmett comes back with a right hook, Kattar counters with a jab and Emmett cracks Kattar with a 1-2. Emmett lands a looping left hand that stuns Kattar as he [Emmett] sports a cut above his left eye. Emmett with another 1-2 then a left hook and shoots for a takedown and he gets it. Kattar pops right back up, Emmett with a 1-2 and the buzzer sounds to end the opening frame.

Round Two - Emmett with a left hook to start. Emmett with a 1-2, Kattar counters with a jab and the blood starts pouring from the aforementioned cut above Emmett’s left eye. Emmett rips a right hook to the body then lands a straight left up top. Emmett fakes a takedown and lands a 1-2 because of it. Kattar drills Emmett with a knee during a level change then he lands a knee to the body and a 1-2 but Emmett returns fire with a left hook to close the round.

Round Three - Emmett with a three piece combination to start. Emmett with a 1-2 then an overhand right that all hit it’s mark. Kattar fires back with a step in elbow but Emmett cracks him with a right hook. Emmett with a low kick then an overhand right before just missing a spinning back elbow at the horn and this one is headed to main event rounds

Round Four - A cut has opened on Kattar’s nose and now it’s just a blood fest. Emmett starts things off with a 1-2 then another combination and initiates the clinch. Kattar fights out and forces the break and he [Kattar] lands an elbow on his way out. Kattar lands a 1-2, Emmett rips a left hook to the body but Kattar drills Emmett with a perfectly-timed spinning back elbow. Emmett is just leaking blood after the elbow and Emmett goes for a takedown but Kattar cracks him with a right hook then works the jab to stymie the attempt. Emmett charges Kattar but the Boston-native stuffs another takedown at the buzzer and this one is headed to the fifth and final round.

Round Five - A brief check of Emmett’s eye from the cage-side physician goes down before the round but Emmett is cleared and here we go. Kattar with the jab to start. Kattar lands a 1-2 then a right hook and an uppercut that stuns Emmett, who goes for a takedown but Kattar stuffs it. Emmett with a low kick, Kattar fires back with a 1-2 then a left hook as Emmett goes up high with a kick but Kattar blocks it. Kattar rocks Emmett with a right hook, Emmett comes back with a spinning back elbow attempt but Kattar evaded and goes for one of his own and partially lands it as the horn sounds and this one is headed to the judge’s scorecards.

Tim Means vs. Kevin Holland

Round One - Means goes right for the clinch to start. Holland slides out and cracks Means with a left hook and Means shoots for a takedown but Holland stuffs. Means lands a 1-2, Holland whiffs on an overhand left but comes back with a 1-2 that lands. Holland with a low kick then a knee but Means uses the knee to drag Holland to the mat. Holland scrambles and gets back up where he lands a left hook then a 1-2 and a kick but Means is able to block the high kick. Holland with a three piece combination then a straight right that lands flush on the bridge of Means’ nose. Means goes for another takedown and gets it but Holland gets right back to his feet at the horn and the opening frame comes to an end.

Round Two - Holland lands a low kick to start. Holland cracks Means with an uppercut, Means dives for a desperation takedown, Holland looks for a choke on the way down and locks it in. Means fights the hands and scrambles but Holland tightens the squeeze and Means taps!

Result: Kevin Holland def. Tim Means via submission (D’Arce choke) (1:28, R2)

Joaquin Buckley vs. Albert Duraev

Round One - Buckley cracks Duraev with a thunderous left hand and Duraev immediately shoots but to no avail. Buckley lands a 1-2, Duraev takes advantage of a Buckley trip but Buckley doesn’t allow the right to go to the mat and slides out and back to his feet. Buckley’s left eye is busted open but it doesn’t deter him as he wallops Duraev with a left hand. Duraev goes for another takedown but Buckley stuffs the attempt and Buckley lands a 1-2. Buckley just missed a flying knee but cracks Duraev with another 1-2 at the buzzer and the opening frame comes to an end.

Round Two - Buckley with a wild overhand left to start but Duraev evades and goes for a takedown but Buckley stuffs it. Buckley with a high kick but Duraev blocks it and goes for another takedown but Buckley shoves him aside and partially lands a head kick. Duraev goes for yet another takedown but is shutdown once again. Buckley with a 1-2 then a left hand that drop Duraev to the mat. Duraev goes for a takedown, Buckley slides away and lands a 1-2 then another left that drops Duraev again but Duraev is saved by the bell and this one is somehow headed to third and final round.

Round Three - Before the third round gets underway, the cage-side physician is called to come check on Duraev’s left eye as it’s completely swollen shut. The doctor tells referee Jacob Montalvo that this one is over.

Result: Joaquin Buckley def. Albert Duraev via TKO (doctor stoppage) (5:00, R2)

Damir Ismagulov vs. Guram Kutateladze

Round One - Kutateladze with a low kick to start. Ismagulov initiates the clinch but Kutateladze quickly shoves him aside. Ismagulov peppers Kutateladze with a jab but Kutateladze comes back with a 1-2 that lands. Ismagulov clinches again but Kutateladze quickly forces the break and clocks Ismagulov with a 1-2. Kutateladze rips a right hook to the body then a front kick to the mid section at the buzzer that ends the opening frame.

Round Two - Ismagulov works the jab to start. Kutateladze with a front kick to the body then lands a 1-2 to boot. Kutateladze goes for the takedown but Ismagulov stuffs the attempt but eats a right hook from Kutateladze, who shoots back for another takedown but Ismagulov clocks him with a knee right up the middle to stymie the attempt. Ismagulov cracks Kutateladze with a 1-2 then an elbow and Kutateladze is busted open above his left eye and the buzzer sounds to end round number two.

Round Three - A head kick from Kutateladze just misses the mark to begin the third and final round. Ismagulov goes for a takedown but Kutateladze slides out but Ismagulov rips a 1-2 that lands. Ismagulov goes for a takedown but can’t get it, Kutateladze lights him up with a three punch combination then goes for a takedown but Ismagulov shoves him to the side. Ismagulov now goes for a takedown but Kutateladze drills him with a knee right down the pipe and referee Herb Dean calls for a stop in the action as the knee may have gone below the belt. The fight is quickly resumed as Ismagulov gives the OK but nothing of consequence happens as the horn sounds and this one is headed to the judge’s scorecards.
