Play-by-Play

(#4) Rob Font (19-4) vs. (#5) Jose Aldo (30-7)

Round One - Font comes out the aggressor for our main event of the evening, the Massachusetts-native lands a 1-2 to start the action. Don't shoots for a takedown, Aldo sprawls and pushes Font towards the fence, the Brazilian powers out and lands a left on the break. Font starts to work the jab, Aldo rips a right to the body in response. Also starts to find his range and rips another to the body then lands a right hook out of that stuns Font and knocks him to a knee, Aldo launches over to him, looks for the finish but the buzzer sounds to potentially save Font from being stopped.

Round Two - Font appears to be fully recovered and comes straight forward and lands a slick 1-2, followed by a left hook. Font continues the offense and lands a front kick to the body but Aldo lands a right to stop Font's momentum. Font doesn't allow it to push him back for long as he continues the forward charge with a right hand. Aldo rips a another shot to the body and Font counters with a kick to Aldo's lead leg. Aldo with a 1-2 that lands, Font shoots for a takedown, Aldo stuffs, lands another 1-2 and the horn sounds to end round number two.

Round Three - Font opens with a 1-2, then shoots for a takedown but Aldo counters and ends up on top. Aldo gets to side control and lands an elbow across the bridge of Font's nose. Font scrambles and looks for an armbar, but Aldo is alert and gets out of danger but Font uses it to get the fight back to the feet. Font with a pair of left jabs that land, Aldo lands a leg kick that trips up Font and the buzzer sounds to end the third.

Round Four - Round number four commences and Aldo lands a 1-2 that stops Font in his tracks. Also lands a right, Font trips up and the former featherweight champion ends up in top control. Aldo gets to half guard, Font defends well and tries to recover. Aldo gets to mount, Font scrambles back to guard and then powers to his feet, he takes Aldo's back, lands an elbow, Aldo tosses him back to the mat, lands on top but the buzzer sounds to send this one to the fifth and final round.

Round Five - Font, who probably needs a finish to steal a victory, comes out the aggressor to start the round. Font goes for a flying knee but Aldo blocks, Font pushes Aldo to the cage, and he lands a a slicing elbow on the break. Font clinches again, lands a few short left hands, lands an elbow but Aldo then powers out and lands a left flush on Font that stuns him, Font drops to the mat, Aldo takes the backc Font scrambles, Aldo does a good job to hold him down, he remains on top, rolls to his back, Aldo looks for the rear-naked choke, it's in deep but the buzzer sounds to send this one to the judge's scorecards.

Result: (#5) Jose Aldo def. (#4) Rob Font via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 49-46)

(#13) Brad Riddell (10-1) vs. (#14) Rafael Fiziev (10-1)

Round One - Riddell opens with a pair of lead leg kicks, Fiziec responds with a kick of his own to the body. Riddell goes right back to the body with right hook and just misses a follow up overhand right. Fiziev continues to work the body, Riddell comes forward with a 1-2 that's met with a right hook from Fiziev, who couples it up with a stabbing front kick to the body, Riddell just missed a counter right but lands a 1-2 at the buzzer to end the opening frame.

Round Two - Riddell goes right back to the body, Fiziev returns the favor, Riddell counters with a left hook that hits it's mark. Fiziev with a 1-2 and Riddell answers with a combo of his own. Blood starts to leak from Riddell's left eye and Fiziev doesn't help the cause by landing stinging right hook hard exchange from both. Riddell initiates the clinch, Fiziev powers out and lands a right on the break, Riddell whiffs on an overhand left, Fiziev partially lands a right hook at the horn and that'll end round number two.

Round Three - Following the last round, the Cageside physician took a look at the cut on Riddell's left eye but quickly cleared him for the third and final round. The pair embraxe in the center of the octagon but get right back to the action. Riddell shoots for a takedown, gets it but Fiziev scrambles and quickly gets back to his feet. Fiziev drills Riddell with a left hook, Riddell looks for another takedown but Fiziev shoves him aside and makes him pay with a right hook. Fiziev throws a wicked spinning back kick, it lands, he goes in for the stoppage and reigns down shots until referee Herb Dean flies in to stop the chaos. What a finish by Rafael Fiziev.

Result: (#14) Rafael Fiziev def. (#13) Brad Riddell via TKO (2:20, R3)

(#12) Jimmy Crute (12-2) vs. (#14) Jamahal Hill (8-1)

Round One - Crute opens up with a leg kick and a right hook to the body of Hill but Hill blasts Crute with right hand that sends him to the canvas, Crute scrambles back to his feet but Hill sends him right back down with another stunning right hand and after a single shot of ground-and-pound, referee Mark Smith has seen enough and this one is over. What a performance by Jamahal Hill.

Result: (#14) Jamahal Hill def. (#12) Jimmy Crute via TKO (0:48, R1)

Clay Guida (36-18) vs. Leonardo Santos (18-5-1)

Round One - Guida eats a lead leg kick from Santos to open the bout then follows it up with a kick to the body before landing another kick to Guida's lead leg. Santos starts unloading on a fenced Guida, referee Keith Peterson keeps a close eye but doesn't step-in, Guida gets dropped by a right hook, quickly scrambled back to his feet, Guida scoops and dumps Santos, ends up in top guard and fired off some elbows as the buzzer sounds to end an eventful opening frame.

Round Two - Guida storms Santos to start the round and shoots in for a takedown and perfectly executes it, Santos scrambled, Guida grabs his neck and never lets go as Santos taps. Clay Guida remains a problem at the ripe age of 39-years old.

Result: Clay Guida def. Leonardo Santos by submission via rear-naked choke (1:21, R2)

Brendan Allen (17-4) vs. Chris Curtis (27-8)

Round One - Allen opens up the action with a head kick that partially lands, Curtis responds with a crisp 1-2 that finds a home. Allen scoops and dumps Curtis but Curtis scrambles right back up to his feet. Allen lands a leg kick, Curtis with a stabbing front kick to the body, which lands and follows it up with a right hook that lands flush. Allen dives in for a heel hook, Curtis shoves him aside and ends the round in top control.

Round Two - Allen again comes out the aggressor, Curtis responds with a 1-2 but eats a front kick from Allen. Curtis lands a right hook, a shot to the body and drills Allen with a straight right that stuns him, a knee folds Allen and that's enough for referee Herb Dean, as he waves this one off. Statement win for Christ Curtis.

Result: Chris Curtis def. Brendan Allen via TKO (1:58, R2)
