Roy Jones Jr. returned to the boxing ring this past weekend, fighting Mike Tyson to a draw, and now the boxer has former UFC fighter Anderson Silva in his sights.
Jones Jr. says he is almost positive that the former UFC middleweight champion is his next opponent.
“If this goes well tonight, I’m almost positive that will probably be the next thing we do,” Jones Jr. said during the pre-fight media scrum (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting). “Because he’s been wanting it. I’ve been wanting it. This has got to go great first.”
Silva, who was let go from the UFC earlier this month, has 46 fights worth of professional MMA experience to speak of, but no amateur or professional boxing experience. Outside of saying that he wants to continue fighting, Silva has not stated what will be next in his combat sports career.
