Winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 23 women’s strawweight competition Tatiana Suarez has suffered an undisclosed injury and has been pulled from her UFC Fight Night 102 bout against Juliana Lima. This would have been Suarez’s first fight since the reality show. MMA Junkie broke the story.
Lima is expected to remain on the card as UFC officials are current seeking a late replacement opponent to fight her.
Lima (8-3-0) has won two of four fights in the UFC, defeating Nina Ansaroff and Ericka Almeida, while suffering defeats to Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Carla Esparza. Lima is also one of only a few women who have competed as both a strawweight and as a bantamweight in the UFC. Lima is a veteran of the Brasil Gight promotion, where she earned five of her eight career wins as a pro.
This isn’t the first injury that affected this card, as Aljamain Sterling was recently pulled from the card after suffering an injury. He was set to face Raphael Assuncao at the event.
UFC Fight Night 102 takes place on Friday, December 9 from the Times Union Center in Albany, New York with Derrick Lewis and Shamil Abdurakhimov headlining. The entire card will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
