Thiago Santos competed in the main event of UFC 239, suffering a split decision loss to UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. Santos, despite being defeated at UFC 239, did become the first fighter to win a round against Jones during his championship reigns.
The fighter not only suffered a loss on that night, but also suffered a pair of serious injuries to both knees, which required Santos to get surgery.
Santos, who is now healing from the surgery, has taken to Twitter to provide another update:
It’s been 7 days since the surgeries on my knees. I must admit, these days are tough, filled with a lot of pain. I can’t sleep or eat properly due to the medications. I even fear using the bathroom because the walk there is a battle. Thank God the pain is subsiding. pic.twitter.com/2oD39DEsvN

Things do not appear to be going to well for Santos, who has had a lot of issues since having the surgery done over a week ago. A recovering Santos also had left knee surgery before the bout against Jones, which precipitated the injuries suffered at UFC 239.
There is no return date set yet for Santos, but the fighter is expected to be back in action by the middle of next year.
