Middleweight fighter Tom Breese was set to fight Oluwale Bamgbose at UFC Fight Night 107, but was pulled from the fight on the day of the event due to an irregularity with his heart.
Shortly after being pulled from the fight, the manager of Breese in Graham Boylan spoke to MMA Junkie about his client’s condition.
“Tom’s heart rate was very high and the pre-event build up raised it to levels which left him questioning if he was ready to compete tonight,” said Boylan.
With his heart ailment seemingly resolved, the fighter's career took another hit when he suffered an ACL injury, although the exact details of how he got injured or when he will return is unknown at this time.
This is the announcement that Breese made via Instagram:
Breese currently has a 3-1-0 record under the UFC banner (9-1-0 overall), with those three wins coming over Luiz Dutra Jr., Cathal Pendred and Keita Nakamura. Breese’s last bout prior to the injury was a split decision loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 199 in June of 2016.
