Former interim UFC lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Sunday morning in Hollywood, California.
TMZ Sports was the first to report the news of Ferguson's arrest, revealing the lightweight veteran had crashed his pickup truck around 2:00 AM into multiple parked cars outside of a Hollywood nightclub. The crash resulted in the truck being flipped on its side, and according to TMZ's report, Ferguson was “very uncooperative” when he was taken into custody. Arrest records show that he was charged with a misdemeanor DUI, and had bail set at $30,000, but was released under his own recognizance around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday.
A police spokeswoman also confirmed to MMA Junkie that there were two occupants inside the truck when it overturned, but fire department responders were able to pull them out without major injuries. Ferguson is due back in Los Angeles municipal court on June 1. His last Octagon appearance came back at UFC 279 last September against, Nate Diaz, where he lost via a fourth-round submission.
