The long-anticipated heavyweight title unification bout between British boxing stars Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua finally seems to have a date set.
Fury confirmed via a video posted across his social media platforms that he would be facing Joshua on August 14. The message and news of the date were given to Fury apparently by Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, the host nation of the massive event.
"Hey there it's Tyson Fury, The Gypsy King", he said. "Got some massive news for you all guys. I've just got off the phone with Prince Khalid of Saudi Arabia, they've told me this fight is one hundred percent on. August 14, 2021 summertime, all eyes of the world will be on the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. And I cannot wait, repeat, cannot wait to smash Anthony Joshua on the biggest stage of all times. This is gonna be the biggest sporting event ever to grace the planet earth. Do not miss it, all eyes on us. Peace out, god bless, see you all in Saudi!."

The matchup will determine and crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the sport since Lennox Lewis did it back in November 1999 after defeating Evander Holyfield via a unanimous decision in their rematch meeting. ESPN's Mark Kriegel reported that contracts aren't officially yet signed still for the Fury vs. Joshua mega-fight, but everything appears to be headed in the right direction amid Fury's announcement. Kriegel's report also revealed that the site fee for the event is a whopping $155 million, and will have both Fury and Joshua splitting $75 million each with the additional $5 million going towards the undercard. Fury's American promoter Bob Arum also revealed to Kriegel that the host city could be Jeddah a resort city near the Red Sea.
