Following UFC 212, the company announced that 15,412 were in attendance at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to see Max Holloway stop Jose Aldo by third-round TKO to become the undisputed UFC featherweight champion. The UFC didn't announce what the live gate was.
The main card could be seen on pay-per-view with the preliminary card airing on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Other action on the card included the co-main event fight of Claudia Gadelha becoming the first person to stop Karolina Kowalkiewicz when she submitted in the first-round with a rear-naked choke and then former light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort going to a decision for the first time since 2007 in defeating Nate Marquardt by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) in a fight many saw the other way.
UFC 212 was the 29th event in Brazil and the sixth time an event has been held at the Jeunesse Arena which used to be the HSBC Arena.
The largest event in the arena was at UFC 153 in Oct. 2012 when Anderson Silva who at the time was the middleweight champion moved up for the third time to light heavyweight and defeated Stephen Bonnar by first-round TKO. The event drew a crowd of 16,844 people for a live gate of around $2.6 million.
The UFC will return to Brazil for a card in October. No fights have been announced for the event at this time.
