Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa will have an extra week to prepare as UFC 253 officially moves from September 19 to September 26.
UFC officially announced the move during Saturday's broadcast of UFC 252. The announcement was made during a promo for the pay-per-view; however, no reason was given for the changed date.
The potential move was first reported by ESPN's Ariel Helwani earlier this month. Interestingly enough, there is already a Fight Night card scheduled for September 26. It is uncertain if the Fight Night planned for September 26 will now move to September 19.
A UFC middleweight title fight between Adesanya and Costa will headline the card. Other notable bouts include Donald Cerrone vs. Niko Price, Johnny Walker vs. Ryan Spann. A rumored grudge match between rival Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington could possibly take place on either September 19 or September 26.
