UFC lightweight and The Ultimate Fighter 27 cast member Luis Pena was arrested on Friday, June 18 on multiple charges in Coral Springs, Florida.
A public information officer for the Coral Springs Police Department Christian Swinson told MMAFighting the following about Pena's arrest. He's being charged with battery, criminal mischief, and robbery by sudden snatching according to online jail records.
“It was actually called in by another police department for us to go and get him, and then we had an independent person tell us where he was, and they took him into custody under that warrant,” Swinson told MMA Fighting. "Probably whoever called it in anonymously is involved in that case and wanted him to go to jail."
Two of Pena's charges, battery and robbery, are currently pending trial. Robbery by sudden snatching is a crime that is punishable by up to five years and $5,000 in fines in the state of Florida, it is classified as a third-degree felony. Pena is 5-3 in his eight Octagon appearances and defeated Alexander Munoz via a split-decision in his latest outing at UFC Vegas 24. He recently opened up on his social media platforms how he has been battling some mental health issues, Pena released the following statement to his Instagram two days before his arrest.
