The WBA has officially ordered a mandatory fight between lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis, and challenger Rolando Romero.
The association's championships committee made the announcement via a tweet, revealing the pair's respective teams have until February 24 to reach an agreement on the fight. Davis and Romero initially were supposed to collide on December 5, but Romero was pulled out of the fight due to multiple sexual assault accusations back in October. Davis is undefeated as a pro at 26-0 currently and is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Isaac Cruz, who replaced Romero, in December. Romero meanwhile is also undefeated as a pro at 14-0 and defeated Anthony Yigit via a seventh-round TKO back in July 2021 in his latest appearance.
