A middleweight division attraction has been added to UFC On Fox 28 as #1 Yoel Romero is going to be in action against #10 David Branch.
The Orlando Sentinel first reported the bout.
Romero (12-2-0) is going to be competing for the first time since losing a UFC Interim Middleweight Title bout to Robert Whittaker at UFC 213. Romero has seen all but one of his UFC bouts go to the third round and five of those fights ended with a finish. Romero only suffered a single defeat outside of the UFC auspices and that came to Rafael Cavalcante at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov.
Branch (21-4-0) is coming off of his first loss since returning to the UFC and that came against former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold at UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh. Branch is a former WSOF Light Heavyweight and Middleweight Champion, but he relinquished both titles upon returning to the UFC. Branch won two of four during his initial UFC run, those wins came over the duo of Tomasz Drwal and Rich Attonito.
UFC On Fox 28 takes place on Saturday, February 24 from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox.
