Mysterio Negotiations With GFW Now Dead, Ending Plans For El Patron Match At Bound For Glory

It was reported months ago that Rey Mysterio was in serious negotiations with Global Force Wrestling about signing with the company and becoming the next former WWE star to join the roster. However, according to a new report in the Wrestling Observer, those negotiations are now dead.

One reason is that Mysterio has been working for the CRASH in Mexico, and the CRASH and GFW don't really get along. They had an agreement to send Lashley to wrestle at an event in Tijuana, The CRASH was promoting it heavily and helping to get all of Lashley's paperwork in order, and then GFW sent James Storm to work the event at the last minute instead.

Also CRASH and AAA are rivals, and GFW has been working with AAA, even sending several of their stars to appear and wrestle at TripleMania. According to the WON report, a match was originally supposed to be set up between Jeff Jarrett and Alberto El Patron at Triplemania. El Patron was going to turn heel on Jarrett, resentful of being suspended and having his title stripped from him. The match would have been scheduled for Bound For Glory, with Jarrett swerving El Patron at the November GFW PPV and bringing out the debuting Rey Mysterio to fight El Patron in his place.

Of course, the El Patron-Jarrett angle did not take place at TripleMania. Alberto wasn't in attendance at the event due to unresolved issues he had with AAA. And even if that angle had taken place, the match it was setting up almost certainly never would have, because a few days ago Jeff Jarrett took a leave of absence from GFW and now we know that negotiations have fallen apart between the company and Mysterio.

So there will be no Rey Mysterio vs Alberto El Patron match at Bound For Glory, but if you're really in the mood to see what it would probably look like, there's a full match between the two from WCPW that is embedded at the top of the page.
