Patricky Freire has suffered an undisclosed injury and is out of next week’s Bellator 167 main event, which was a rematch with Derek Campos.
Campos was looking for revenge in the fight, as Freire knocked him out in their first fight back at Bellator 117 in April 2014, Campos is expected to remain on the card against a yet to be named opponent. Neither Freire, Campos or Bellator MMA officials have commentated on the matter. MMA Fighting broke the story.
Campos (17-6-0) will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, defeating Djamil Chan and UFC veteran Melvin Guillard. If Campos remains on the card (assuming a late replacement opponent is found), this will be his most active year since 2014, where he fought a grand total of three times. Campos will be headlining his first ever Bellator MMA card next weekend, he has fought a grand total of ten times thus far in the promotion.
Belllator 167 takes place on Saturday, December 3 from the Winstar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma with Derek Campos and an opponent to be named headlining, the main card will be airing live on Spike TV.
