Patricky Pitbull Says He Should Get Next Title Shot

MMA

Patricky Pitbull earned a razor thin split decision win over former UFC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson in the main event of Bellator 183.

The Brazilian slugger believes that it should be him, not former Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler who gets the next lightweight title shot.

“Listen, I’m the top dog,” Pitbull told MMA Junkie. “He was fighting, he got hurt. He hurt his leg. Nobody knows what happened, and two weeks later, he’s running. That’s his fault. I’m at the top of the list. I’ve been at the top of the list for 18 victories. This is my chance. This is my shot. That’s why I deserve it.”

Brent Primus is the current lightweight champion, defeating Chandler at Bellator 180 after Chandler suffered an ankle injury in the fight.

Pitbull has had opportunities at the belt before, but the lightweight says that he feels ready for the gold this time around.

“I feel prepared for the big gold,” says Pitbull.

Neither Primus or Chandler have had a fight announced since their first encounter at Bellator 180, no Bellator MMA officials have announced who the next title shot would be going to or when that bout could potentially happen.
