Cody Rhodes speaks to media ahead of Dynamite and Revolution!
- Cody Rhodes tells Connor Casey that anything that Kenny Omega is going to be great. He's only seen the barbed wire that's getting wrapped. He doesn't know how the explosions are going to work. He thinks the title is the most important part.
- Steph Franchomme asks Cody about Paul Wight. Cody says Wight is a big part of his career, and thinks he's motivated and has matches left in him. He'll be good at keeping people grounded and has a lot more to give.
- Cody tells Jim Varsallone that he's hoping that Red Velvet gets the rub tonight and that she's victorious. He talks about all the hurdles to make the women's title tournament happen, and hopes all of this helps bolster the division.
- Cody says there didn't used to be a lot of diversity in the territory days and is happy that is categorically different now. He actively takes scouting trips around the world to look for new talent.
- Cody tells Jon Alba he believes that AEW was headed to the moon before the pandemic, and points to the Prudential Center sellout. He says all wrestling companies and entertainment were affected by this, so doesn't want to whine about what happened to them.
- Cody notes that AEW will not be the first company to dip their toes into these re-opened territories. They want to do it safely and comfortably.
- Amy Nemmity asks about Red Velvet getting signed full-time. Cody Rhodes is hoping that's the case, and that she's stepped up. He says a tier 0 and a retainer contract is still a part of the family, but getting signed full-time and the "All Elite" graphic is carefully done.
- Stephanie Chase asks Cody about Sting in AEW. Cody believes Sting can still go, and his dynamic motion is still there. Believes Sting is there for the long haul.
- Cody tells ol Billyboy Pritchard that he would make the same comments Shaq did about his upcoming match. He says Shaq trained. Shaq has once in a lifetime athleticism and hopes this is the best celebrity match of all-time as Shaq has hyped.
- Kenny McIntosh asks about NXT possibly moving to Tuesday nights. Cody says he anticipated this question, and says he doesn't wanna make a sassy "marathon, not a sprint" comment, but that AEW Dark is on Tuesdays and will be opposed now. Cody says the locker rooms like each other, it's usually management with the issues. He'd love for AEW to be alone on Wednesday nights, but expects something else to be there.
- Cody is asked about NWA-AEW's relationship. Cody says that Tony Khan is great about opening doors and treading peacefully with other companies. It takes trust and time. He's sure there will be more crossover.
- Cody tells Garrett Martin he's hoping that AEW Elevation tells us "why" people are in the ring more.
- Cody isn't sure how much convincing FTR had to do to get Tully Blanchard back in the ring. Says AEW has some surprises in store for Tully.
- Cody Rhodes doesn't want a go-home show to be a throw away show. He wants it to have a heavy hitting, news worthy show every timed.
- Cody Rhodes speaks highly of Maki Itoh and hopes to see more of her. He loves seeing people like Itoh who connect with the fans, and that's why you see people like her pop up in AEW. Tells Cassidy Haynes there have been conversations on his end and expected to see her back.
- Rhodes credits Kenny Omega, Hikaru Shida, Emi Sakura and Michael Nakazawa for this tournament.
- Filling out the middle of the card is important with Cody Rhodes. He doesn't want just top and bottom card guy and nothing in the middle. There's a natural cycle and progression with a well-rounded roster.
- Cody Rhodes points to Wardlow as being "money in the bank," and a big future star.
- Cody Rhodes says the upcoming third hour of AEW-TNT programming has a name, and he loves it, but can't reveal it. It will happen in 2021. He mentions ANOTHER show possibly coming up, too
