UFC and Strikeforce veteran Tim Kennedy has announced his retirement as a professional MMA fighter, he will be leaving the sport with a record of 18-6-0.
Kennedy announced the news himself via Facebook:
Kennedy is the third UFC fighter/veteran to retire in 2017, as Peggy Morgan and Martin Svensson also announced their retirements recently.
Kennedy is also a decorated veteran of the armed forces, is a board member of the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association (MMAAA) and is a regular on the History Channel show “Hunting Hitler.”
During his fifteen year MMA career, Kennedy earned victories over top fighters like Jason Miller, Nick Thompson, Trevor Prangley, Zak Cummings, Melvin Manhoef, Robbie Lawler, Roger Gracie, Michael Bisping and Rafael Natal.
Kennedy did challenge twice for the Strikeforce Middleweight Title, coming up short in his two attempts against both Luke Rockhold and Ronald Souza.
Kennedy’s last fight as a pro came at UFC 206 in December 2016, where he suffered a third round TKO loss to Kelvin Gastelum.
