British high-flying wrestler Will Ospreay admits what many have been saying for months... that he needs to slow down in the ring.
That topic was one of many that came up during a Reddit AMA with Ospreay.
"100%. I do need to slow it down, I guess I get lost in the moment," Ospreay said. "I still think like a wrestling fan, I still think, ‘what do they want to see?’ When you’re out there, you hardly feel the injuries. The main thing to prove to everyone is that yeah, I might get hurt, but I’m not going to die. Dave Meltzer released a list of my injuries, but most of them came from backyard wrestling. I appreciate everyone’s concern, but I’m okay.”
Ospreay also addressed wrestling Vader. The two crossed paths on Twitter after Vader publicly criticized Ospreay's New Japan Pro Wrestling match against Ricochet, which featured an array of high-flying offense and went viral. That social media beef led to a match in August between the two for Revolution Pro Wrestling in the UK.
"Go on Highspots, buy the thing," Ospreay said of the Vader match. "I was so drunk when I talked about this. I’m quite happy to leave it at what it is. It was an experience, I’ve done it, it’s on my CV. Would I want to do it again? F**k no.”
After that match, Vader called Ospreay a liar, claiming he was told he would be allowed to sell a copy of the match in the U.S.
2016 has been a breakout year for the 23-year-old Ospreay, who became the youngest wrestler to win New Japan Pro Wrestling's Best of the Super Juniors Tournament. This weekend, Ring of Honor announced that Ospreay and fellow Brit Marty Scurll had signed exclusive contracts with ROH.
