Kota Ibushi Undergoing Second Surgery On His Femur, Vows To Return

Kota Ibushi gives the latest update on his health.
Taking to Instagram, Ibushi stated that he will be undergoing a second surgery on his femur. The current plates will be removed and replaced with the strongest available option.
“I am being hospitalized starting today. Tomorrow, I will undergo a second surgery on my femur. They will remove all the current plates and replace them with the strongest available option, as the doctors said my current ones were simply too weak for my body and leg. Why now? It makes absolutely no sense to me. I am so exhausted from having to go through surgery after surgery. But I am not giving up. I refuse to let something like this end my professional wrestling career. I will make sure this surgery is a success and absolutely return to AEW,” he wrote.
He initially underwent surgery in October 2025 when he suffered the injury during a match with Josh Alexander. He underwent another surgery in February when a screw came loose.
Kota Ibushi was hoping to return to the ring in 2026.
Fightful continues to wish Ibushi all the best as he recovers.
