Nixi XS: I Think Wrestling Is A Powerful Medium For Pushing The Boundaries Of Sex And Sexuality
Nixi XS explains her take on the sexual nature of wrestling.
If you’re even slightly familiar with Nixi XS, you know that she can easily take over the internet by sharing provocative photos and videos on various social media platforms.
Speaking with Joel Pearl of Fightful Overbooked for a new interview, Nixi took a moment to explain why she thinks wrestling is inherently erotic. Furthermore, ‘The Versace Of Violence’ noted that she wants to present her body in a way that she finds beautiful and empowering.
“Wrestling as its core is inherently about body. The physicality of it, even if you’re just talking like I am right now, it is a physical visual media. It is about how your body moves, how your body looks, how you perform with it. That’s inherently adjacent to sexuality. A lot of how I engage with wrestling as a fan growing up or in my early teens was tumblr blogging and making thirst trap gifs of my favorite wrestlers and shit. I’ve always been of the perspective that wrestling is erotic inherently. I think all athletics are inherently are, but wrestling in particular because it’s performative and it’s theatrical. There’s nothing hidden, you’re going out there in spandex. You’re embracing what you can do with your body in oil and spandex and glitter. I think it’s a powerful medium for pushing boundaries of sex and sexuality. I think women’s wrestling for a long time — I mean, it’s always been sexualized. Women’s wrestling has always been sexualized or treated in a sexual way where as men’s wrestling isn’t talked about in that way. That’s been a degrading negative thing. I like to flip that where I’m doing something because I find it powerful, because I find sexuality beautiful. I think it’s a beautiful thing you can explore through art. I never want to be a position where I’m put on a show and a promoter is making the thumbnail look sexual to try and get views and that’s not something that I’ve chosen. I want to present my body the way I want to be presented, in a way that I find beautiful. The most empowering way to do that is to be upfront about it and creating art through it. The most powerful paintings are Olympia nudes. Those were progressive because they pushed a boundary of what people thought shouldn’t be shown. Now, they’re looked at as classics. That’s my goal with everything I create, is to create a new classic.”
