If you're in AEW, you're probably in a faction. And if you're in a faction, you need a name.
2point0 (Jeff Parker & Matt Lee) and Daniel Garcia have been a trios group since they debuted together on the August 4 episode of AEW. Despite being together throughout their tenure in AEW, the trio don't have an official name.
They may change in the near future.
"There was a joke going around that we would be called The Local Toughs. It was a big hit in the AEW locker room," said Matt on Sunday Morning Live.
Parker went on to say, "Garcia was in the ring and he's warming up and wearing these black pants and a white wife beater with a chain. I'm standing with Orange Cassidy and I'm like, 'Doesn't Garcia look like he's a local tough guy trying to join the gang?' It stuck, so maybe we're The Local Toughs."
Lee then recalled a story of how The Local Toughs first came about.
"Years ago, we were at a CHIKARA event in Ontario. After the show, we're all going to eat. We're with El Generico, who was our partner at the time. There was a group of people standing outside. Before we go in, I go to them and I'm like, 'Are you guys the local toughs?' Generico looks at me like, 'What are you doing? You're antagonizing them.' That was on the table for the name for our trio. It would be Local Tough," he said.
Parker concluded by saying, "Sometimes that's how wrestling works. You get something ridiculous and it sticks."
Though 2point0 and their "son" Daniel Garcia don't have the best win-loss record, they have been regularly featured on AEW television since joining the company.
2point0 will take on Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite. Fightful will have coverage of Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
