Chris Jericho took out HOOK and pulled some strings to keep Taz out.
On the July 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith attacked HOOK backstage, and Jericho blasted HOOK with a fireball.
The broadcast team provided an update on the July 10 episode of AEW Dynamite, as they noted that HOOK was not cleared to travel due to the attack.

During the show, the broadcast team also explained why Taz was absent. Excalibur said that Taz came to the building, but Jericho lobbied and convinced EVPs Matthew and Nicholas Jackson to ban him from the venue. As a result, Taz went back to the hotel, and Nigel McGuinness filled in for him on commentary.
