AEW Dynamite And NXT Viewership, Ratings Down For 8/12

AEW Dynamite and NXT both saw big drops in viewership this week.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the August 12 episode of Dynamite averaged 792,000, which is down from last week's 901,000 viewers. This was the seventh straight week Dynamite drew more than 700,000 viewers with last week being the first time the show drew more than 900,000 viewers for an episode since March 18 when it drew 932,000 viewers.

NXT's viewership also dropped, drawing 619,000 viewers this week, which is down from last week's 753,000 viewers. This was NXT's second-worst viewership for an episode since late May with the worst viewership number in that span being July 22's 615,000 viewers.

In the 18-49 demographic, AEW won out with a 0.32 rating, which was lower than last week's 0.36 rating, and finished ninth on cable for the day. NXT, on the other hand, drew a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 demo, lower than last week's 0.20 rating and finished 65th best on cable for the day. In the 18-49 demo, the combined ratings for AEW Dynamite and NXT (0.48) were better than WWE Raw this week (0.47)

AEW Dynamite saw a decrease in the 50+ ratings with this week drawing a 0.26 rating, lower than last week's 0.33 rating. Among males 18-49, AEW Dynamite finished eighth for the day with a 0.38 rating.

AEW Dynamite saw Cody defend the TNT Championship against Scorpio Sky as well as Kenny Omega & Hangman Page defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Jurassic Express. Dynamite was also Tag Team Appreciation night with an appearance from the Rock N' Roll Express and the main event match saw Orange Cassidy defeat Chris Jericho.

NXT featured the return of Velveteen Dream as he wrestled a triple threat match against Kushida and Cameron Grimes where the winner advanced to the North American Title Ladder Match at TakeOver XXX. In addition, Keith Lee and Karrion Kross signed the contract for an NXT Championship match at TakeOver XXX.
