A prominent AEW Championship is getting a name change.
On the March 15, 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite, the AEW All-Atlantic Championship will be officially be transformed into the AEW International Championship. The change was first announced by AEW owner Tony Khan on the March 8 episode of Dynamite. According to Khan, the name change of the championship is in promotion of the new Shazam: Fury Of The Gods movie that is set to release on Friday, March 17. Shazam is a DC Comics property that is owned by Warner Bros Discovery.
Orange Cassidy will remain the current holder of the belt and is set to defend the renamed belt for the first time on March 15 against Jeff Jarrett. Cassidy defeated Jarrett's stable mate, Jay Lethal, in a championship match on the March 8 edition of the show.
