Alex Kane not only represents MLW as the reigning MLW World Heavyweight Champion, he represents the LGBTQ community as an out athlete.
LGBTQ representation in wrestling, specifically independent wrestling, has increased over the years with people like Kane, AC Mack, and EFFY uplifting and representing the community.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert and Joel Pearl on In The Weeds, Kane discussed the importance of representing the LGBTQ community.
"I think it's important because you have so many LGTBQ wrestlers in wrestling. Some are just on the come up and some are already on the big stage. For those on the come up, you can look at me and see, 'If Alex Kane can do it, then I can do it.' I feel that's pretty damn inspiring, especially to be a world champion, two years into the company, it's something to strive for. It's very important to me," he said.
Kane is set to headline his third straight MLW pay-per-view when he defends his MLW World Heavyweight Championship against Tom Lawlor at MLW Slaughterhouse.
