Austin Aries Reflects On His Last PPV Match In WWE; Says He'd Love To Wrestle Neville Again When Neville's Done "Serving His Time"

Austin Aries reflects on his last WWE-broadcasted match.

June 4th is a day surely filled with birthdays and anniversaries of certain events but June 4th is also the one-year anniversary of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship match between Austin Aries and Neville at the 2017 WWE 'Extreme Rules' PPV. The match would be Austin Aries' third and final opportunity to capture the prize of the 205 Live brand and he failed to do so as he was caught in a "Rings Of Saturn" and was put to sleep by Neville.

Post-match, the camera went to get a close-up of the defeated Austin Aries while he was sitting on the outside following the match and Aries had an eldritch look on his face that raised the question of, "Why is he smiling directly at the camera like that?"

Aries' reasoning came to the forefront just a month later as he was released from his WWE contract and was reportedly frustrated with his position in the company. Aries is now the current Undisputed World Champion of IMPACT Wrestling and has gone on a spree of collecting championships following his departure from the sports-entertainment company. Austin Aries caught wind of the tweet above and added his take; describing what he felt in that moment.

"The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" did fall short in the match to his opponent Neville who is not in good graces with WWE. In October of 2017 Neville reportedly walked out during RAW due his frustrations with the company at the time. Earlier this year Fightful's own Sean Ross Sapp sent out a report which read that WWE froze Neville's contract which will keep him with the company until the two sides come to a mutual agreement or WWE decides to either let him go or make him wait out his contract. Austin Aries noted in his response tweet that he would love to wrestle Neville again with the shackles off once Neville is done serving his time; referring to Neville's current situation with WWE.
