Baron Corbin: I Want To Win The World Heavyweight Championship And Face Roman Reigns For Both Belts

Baron Corbin has always been fond of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and wants to win its newly-created namesake to set his career back on track.

WWE recently introduced a new World Heavyweight Championship, which will be exclusive to the WWE Monday Night Raw brand now that Roman Reigns has been officially drafted to WWE Friday Night SmackDown. The tournament to crown the new champion, however, is open to all WWE Superstars, regardless of whether or not they were drafted to Raw, SmackDown, or remain in free agency.

Baron Corbin is one of those names that has remained as a free agent following the draft. Corbin had fallen on hard times recently following the breakdown of his partnership with John Bradshaw Layfield. Still, he snapped his losing streak in front of a crowd in Paris that was going ballistic for him.

In an interview with the French outlet Catch Club, the former WWE United States Champion revealed that he has his eyes on the new World Championship as the original World Heavyweight Championship, which was in existence from 2002 to 2013, was one of his favorite WWE Championships in history.

"I just got to Raw. I'd like to stay on Raw. I like to see who else comes over," said Corbin in an interview recorded after the draft's first night. "We got Shinsuke coming over. I owe Shinsuke for screwing up my whole King thing, stealing my crown, and being a bully. I want a shot at that new title. One of my favorite titles in WWE history is that World Heavyweight Championship and I always remember Batista wearing it, Edge having it, and it was always so cool to me. Just sort of get one that kind of signifies that would be amazing.

"Then one day, I think it would be epic to be Champion versus champion, myself as Heavyweight Champion on Raw and Roman Reigns as Universal Champion and we go to war over the two. [That] would be amazing," he added.

Baron Corbin is the last person to pin Roman Reigns, but that was back in 2019. Roman Reigns has not been pinned in over a thousand days and has spent nearly a thousand days as the WWE Universal Champion.

Cody Rhodes is someone else who has his eyes on both Roman Reigns and the new World Heavyweight Championship. Fans can read what Cody Rhodes has to say about the new title at this link.
