Bayley: I Feel Proud That I Can Be Somebody Kids Look Up To And Have Success Built Off That

Bayley reflects on her wrestling fandom, the women who inspired her, and the legacy she now gets to leave behind, knowing she's already inspired a new generation of WWE Superstars.

Bayley is the current WWE Women's Champion. She captured that title by defeating IYO Sky at WWE WrestleMania XL. Capturing the WWE Women's Championship at WrestleMania XL, while it was far from her first championship victory, was the culmination of a lifetime of hard work.

Speaking with People magazine, Bayley reflected on how wrestling helped her break out of her shell.

“They were just the coolest,” Bayley said of past stars like Ivory, Gail Kim, Lita and Trish Stratus. “It was so much fun. The women back then were especially such badass athletes, you know? They were all so different. I think that's what really drew me to it.”

Now, Bayley has a new roster of women in WWE that she has helped inspire to some degree. She says she's proud that women like Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Indi Hartwell, and more cite her as an influence.

"All of them are here, all of them are successful, and all of them are former champions," Bayley points out. “I was somebody they looked up to? I feel proud that now I can be somebody kids look up to and have success built off that. It's beautiful.”

Bayley will next defend her title against Nia Jax at WWE SummerSlam.
