Becky Lynch's mission to elevate the NXT Women's Championship is underway.
Becky Lynch defeated Tiffany Stratton to win the NXT Women's Championship on the September 12 episode of WWE NXT. She then defended the title on the line against Stratton at WWE live events over the weekend.
On the September 18 episode of WWE Raw, Lynch came to the ring and commented on her title win. She commented on her win by noting that winning the gold wasn't on her bingo card, but she made the most of the opportunity that presented itself. Lynch stated that she wanted to elevate the title and defend it against the best that the future hard to offer.
Natalya accepted the challenge and emphasized that she had worked hard for an opportunity. Lynch initially resisted by noting that she meant for someone newer to accept the challenge so they could get an opportunity. Natalya fired back by calling Lynch out for the way she went to NXT to challenge for the gold. She also called Lynch a ginger witch, and the champion accepted her challenge.
Lynch proceeded to defeat Natalya to retain the title in a hard-fought match.

WWE also announced that Lynch will appear on the September 19 episode of WWE NXT, but her involvement with the show was not specified.
